Wore Out’s Look of the Week

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner, when did this happen? I’m already feeling the Christmas anxiety setting in!

One of my favorite ways to quell holiday anxiety is to curl up on the couch and catch up on my favorite blogs. One blog that always warms my heart and inspires my wardrobe is none other than Wore Out’s look of the week…

Lora from Madam DonutThis broad has serious style (and I have a serious style crush)! Outfit after outfit Lora’s looks inspire me to see the pieces hanging in my closet in a totally different, stylish new light. She’s an expert when it comes to layering and making unexpected colors, textures and patterns work together in fashionista harmony.

The vibrant vintage dress she’s wearing is perfect with her fun pattern tights and vintage cardigan. In fact she added the fur collar to the cardigan herself! I think what draws me most to Lora’s style is that her style seems effortless and fluid. Each piece fits together perfectly creating a finished look that is both stylish and surprising.

I mean what else is there to say? She’s got an amazing eye for fashion and an unmatched penchant for donuts; pretty much she’s the coolest chic around. So make sure you stop by her blog often for inspiration, witty commentary and stunning vintage pieces.

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

After sleeping close to 16 hours yesterday I feel a lot better. I think it was my body’s way of saying “if you’re not going to slow down, I’ll make you slow down.” I’m planning on getting lots of rest this weekend as well so I’m sure my energy levels will be back to where they should be in no time.

Speaking of energy Wore Out’s Look of the Week really pumped up the volume with a killer pair of leggings, animal print and bright yellow accents; creating a look that inspired.

Meet Eboni of The Fashionista Next Door! When I saw Eboni’s outfit I feel immediately in love with the different textures, and layers she choose. I’m constantly amazed with how easily Eboni is able to be on trend without losing an ounce of her own personal style. My favorite piece that she styled in this post (if I had to choose just one) would be her leggings. The mix of materials keeps these sexy leather leggings classic and chic and the leopard top and black accessories reinforces this style. Eboni’s outfits while always on trend and never looked forced. Her style is effortless and always on point, a hard combination to master! Stop by and check out The Fashionista Next Door for tips, perfectly constructed outfits and a whole lot more!

Coury of Fancy Treehouse! When I saw this outfit my jaw literally dropped. The colors all work together beautifully. I always struggle when it comes to color pairing, so a post like this is inspiration at it’s best. In love with Coury’s jacket too? Good news it’s for sale in her shop! It’s not just her color mixing that inspires me, Coury’s looks are as enviably as they are effortless. Simply put her style is graceful. The flowing hemline, boho chic accessories and artfully layered pieces create a seamless look that is both on trend and representative of Coury’s personal style. She styles the whole look; from makeup to accessories to backdrop everything fits into place perfectly without looking fussy or staged. Oh and did I mention she has the cutest dog ever?!

Stop by Fancy Treehouse for endless inspiration and on trend looks that are anything but generic. Can’t get enough of Coury’s killer style? You can find her over at the Delightful Dozen too!

What do you love about Coury’s style?

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

It’s Friday again and I couldn’t be happier! This weekend D and I were careful not to make any plans. We wanted to enjoy some down time with each other and get a few things done around the house before the winter weather really sets in. One plan we did make, pumpkin carving! I’m so excited because this year we live in a much more residential area and we’re going to get lots of trick or treaters!

I’m not the only one with pumpkin carving plans. Not only is this Floridian a pumpkin carving enthusiast but her sartorial style and love of vintage make her Wore Out’s Look of the Week…

Steffy of Steffy’s Pros and Cons! Not many Floridian’s can pull off fall fashion so effortlessly but Steffy’s casual chic approach to cooler temperatures hits all the right notes.

Steffy was one of the first bloggers I started to follow after I launched Wore Out and her style and effortless looks constantly inspire me to get outside my comfort zone.

The color/print of Steffy’s sweater really pop but my eye is drawn to her perfectly selected accessories. The Diane Keton-esqe felt topper, neutral wedges and great leather bag Steffy selected tie everything together perfectly while keeping with the fall theme.

The thing that I find most inspiring about Steffy’s Pros and Cons is her imagination when it comes to putting outfits together. She has a way of transforming thrifted pieces into perfectly put together on trend looks. Steffy’s online store, Tea and Tulips, is full of quality pieces she’s thrifted and the perfect way to steal a bit of her effortless style. I love how Steffy styles each piece she lists, so you the shopper can be inspired by her killer style.

So do yourself a favor pop on by Steffy’s blog and then head over to her store and shop her closet. Don’t worry, you can thank me later.

What are your weekend plans? What do you think of Steffy’s fall look?

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

Happy Friday All! D and I both have today off from work and tonight we’re going to see John Brown’s Body! They’re one of my favorite bands to see live, their energy is amazing and it’s great dancing music.

Speaking of good energy, Wore Out’s Look of the Week is…

Bonnie from Flashes of Style!I didn’t think it was possible to be jealous of a cardigan collection… until I found Bonnie’s blog. Not only is Bonnie’s collection of cardigans enviable but she has some of the cutest toppers and bags out there. Her effortless style and uber chic wardrobe result in inspiring outfits and looks.  How can you not love this look?

The gold pants work perfectly with the colors in the blouse and create a classic silhouette. I like how Bonnie paired them with a classic loafers but I can see this outfit being just as awesome paired with black pumps or platform booties. As the fall weather really sets in I’m excited to see how Bonnie layers and mixes pieces. She’s an expert at incorporating the hottest trends into her looks without compromising an ounce of her personal style.

What’s your favorite part of Bonnie’s outfit? What are your weekend plans?

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

Happy Friday all! I want to start by wishing my wonderful boyfriend D a happy birthday, he’s turning the big 2-5 today! I can’t wait to spend the weekend celebrating with good food and good friends.

I knew that this lovely lady had the Look of the Week (LOTW) in the bag when I saw this awesome outfit. I’m so excited that Wore Out’s LOTW is…

Catherine from Small Town, Big WardrobeLook at this fabulous print mixing in action!

It’s no secret that I love print mixing so when I saw Catherine’s post on Tuesday I nearly swooned. The subtle and smart pops of color she expertly added give this look dimension and that little something extra that every girl is striving for.

The blue belt not only creates a perfect silhouette but also break up the black and white prints beautifully while the yellow flats keep this look fun and fresh. The other part of this outfit I love are the chic yet subtle additions of pearls. The pearl earrings and bracelet add a touch of sophistication (without being overly stuffy) and work perfectly with Catherine’s color palette.

This post is full of inspiration, not only is Catherine’s outfit the perfect example of print mixing but it’s also a great example of transitioning summer favorites into the fall (which she talks about). Personally I can see her wearing this look into the winter with  a blazer, jewel tone tights and a great pair of booties!

Not only is her content great but Catherine’s warm personality just shines through in her posts. Filled with honesty and spot on humor her content keeps me coming back just as much as her outfits do. Hopefully we can actually meet in real life one day as I’d love to be able to shop the Midwest with this gal!

Have you gone out on a fashion limb lately? What summer pieces are you still wearing?

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

Hi all! Like fashion my blog is ever evolving. I’ve decided to move my weekly happenings blurb (aka the links usually precedes the LOTW post) to Saturday or Sunday; I think. Like I said, it’s evolving… so stay tuned!

I’ve been a fan of this sunshine state blogger since I started Wore Out. Gorgeous red hair, killer sartorial style and chic handmade garments are just a few reasons to love our look of the week…

Tiffany of a Reason to be Fabulous!Told you she was gorgeous! Tiffany’s killer eye, distinct personal style and over the top talent (yeah the cute skirt she’s wearing, she made it!) keep me coming back to her blog on the daily. True to her blog’s title Tiffany turns everyday into a fashionable one with chic silhouettes and eye for detail. Many of my favorite pieces that Tiffany styles have been handmade by her and I was so jealous! However I am so excited to announce that very shortly Tiffany will begin to take custom orders! I can’t wait to have my very own one of a kind Tiffany piece! The only hard part will be trying to figure out which of her designs to order first!

What’s your favorite part of Tiffany’s outfit? Do you make your own clothes?

Wore Out’s Look of the Week

Is it just me or does it feel like Labor Day was months ago? We spent the weekend in a field, ate too much at the fair, I tried a new color combo, wore jeans that felt like suede and agonized over hippos.

I’m so excited to introduce you to a Burlingtonian whose edgy, chic, carnival inspired look sold me on suspenders. Wore Out’s look of the week is…

Noelle from the Lund Family Center!Tank: Goodwill, Shorts (originally pants, DIY hemmed): Goodwill , Suspenders: via her Mom, Boots: Famous FootwearI was immediately drawn to the simplicity and structure of Noelle’s outfit. A teacher in the Lund Family Center’s Early Childcare Center, Noelle says that while fashion is important to her her style is “constantly changing” but always functional. “I ride my bike everywhere so I have to be able to move comfortably,” notes Noelle.

Everything from the lace up boots to her mustard colored back pack fits together to create a unique look very true to her spirit. Inspired by Carnivàle, “an HBO show canceled too early,” Noelle’s  look was inspired by one of the show’s characters, “there was a tarot card reader with a slightly androgynous vibe that resonated with me. Dark, dusty, very sepia.”I met Noelle during a fitting for the upcoming STRUT fashion show, a highlight of the South End Art Hop held in Burlington each year. STRUT offers more than 20 local and independent designers the chance to showcase their creative talents and flair for fashion. Noelle will be strutting her stuff in designs created by Lund Family Center coworkers Sarah and Angela.

In 2008/2009 the Lund Family Center’s teen pregnancy prevention outreach reach over 1,500 students in more than 40 schools and community centers. This year Lund is taking their outreach to the runway, creating a line of accessories and ready to wear looks using condoms. I was privileged to be invited to one of the final fittings and I was blown away by the collection’s quality and wearablility.

I had a chance to sit down with the amazing women behind Lund’s collection and was able to take a ton of behind the scenes photos that I can’t wait to share with you… but only after the looks are debuted on the runway so stay tuned!

STRUT is being held tomorrow, Saturday, September 10 with shows starting at 6:30 & 8:30pm behind the Maltex building (431 Pine Street) in Burlington, Vt. For more information please visit their website.

Are you heading to STRUT this weekend? Would you wear acessories made out of condoms?
