what accessories are you wearing this weekend?

impractically perfect

Not even Vermont’s winter weather could send my shoe collection into hibernation. These bold patterned ALDO heels might not be practical in the snow but they sure do brighten up a grey day.

End of the World Lunch Date

After lunch at Misery Loves Company (so good) we talked our friend Brett into playing photog which of course meant it turned into a total laugh-fest which is exactly what I needed. Besides, if it is the end of the world why not go out with a belly full of MLC’s famous fries, in the company of friends, wearing a fabulous pair of heels?

Cheers to the weekend and the final push before the holidays!

Big Girl Heels.

Knit Hat: UO, Jacket: Wilson’s Leather, Sweater: Zara, Jeans: Gap, Skull Ring: Vending Machine, Heels: ALDO

Yet another modified version of jeans and a tee, my go to outfit. Since this is such a simple look I added texture with the knit hat and leather jacket and a pop of color with my wild print ALDO heels. I was on the fence about buying these heels (the print reminded me of an early 90’s track suit a neighbor used to have) until two little girls shopping with their mom told me they liked my “big girl shoes” and just like that I was sold.

What helps you decide when you’re on the fence about a purchase?

My Literal Interpretation of a Shirtdress

Sunglasses: Dollar Store, Cardigan & Bar Ring: Downtown Threads, Men’s Button- up (worn as dress): Goodwill, Jeans: Thrifted in PA,  Scarf: Gifted, Boots: Steve Madden, Bag: ALDOThis Saturday (St. Patrick’s Day) D and I slept in, had a late breakfast at Sneakers in Winooski, spent the afternoon enjoying the unseasonably warm weather and then headed downtown for a few St. Patty’s Day drinks with friends.

This is what I wore for breakfast at Sneakers, which was insanely good by the way. D had the chocolate-Guinness pancake special while I opted for the mouthwatering delicious California eggs Benedict and one of the best soy lattes I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious and  after almost licking our plates clean neither of us needed lunch!

I wore a men’s button up as a mini dress over jeans with my beloved, and freshly cobbled, Steve Madden cowboy boots. On my last trip to Goodwill I found, fell in love with, and bought a men’s large cream colored button up with a fun burnt orange print. It was too big for me to be able to wear it as a top but it turned out to be perfect as a mini dress. Don’t you just love when that happens?

Are their pieces in your wardrobe that you wear in “unconventional” ways? Were you St. Patrick’s day celebrations wild & crazy or on the calmer side?

Splish Splash Sash

Top: Florence, Italy, Belt: H&M (taken off a top), Skirt: Downtown Threads, Ring: Charlotte Ruse, Heels: AldoIt’s felt more like late summer than early fall in Burlington lately. The unseasonably warm weather gave me the opportunity to wear one of my favorite summer skirts again.  To break up the muted color palate I opted to use a bold sash from an old H&M tunic instead of a belt. The bright green really popped and surprisingly complimented the coral heels. I love when unexpected color combinations end up working.

What color pairings have you excited this season?

Birds of a Feather

Sunnies: Tom Ford (gifted), Top: Target, Assorted Bracelets: Gifted, Skirt: Downtown Threads, Heels: ALDO

While cropped tops have been one of the hottest trends this season I’m still warming up to them. The idea of an exposed midsection (no matter how small the area exposed) is a bit foreign to me but when I found this adorable silk crop top I couldn’t help myself. I snapped it up and hoped that its chic but simple feather pattern would turn me into a belly baring fool!

When the shopping high wore off and I got my new purchase home I tried it with a variety of bottoms and realized I wasn’t quite ready to bare my belly. Instead I opted for a classic silhouette and treated it like a billowy blouse; tucking it into my favorite vintage skirt from Downtown Threads. Sometimes old favorites sparkly even more when paired with newer on trend pieces.

How do you mix new pieces into your wardrobe? How have you styled cropped tops this season?
