Hello boots, meet the perfect amount of skirt. Plenty of space to show off the boots in all their braided, vintage glory and just enough skirt to keep it interesting.

what’s your perfect boot to hem ratio?

Get to the Gate

At this point I’m just letting my hair do its own thing. There’s no combating the friz and frumple that comes with a winter hat season that is almost three months long. Luckily I have a great collection of toppers to hide my static charged do all winter long. That’s right I’m finally declaring it winter. The colder weather has started to settle in and there’s no more denying that frigid temperatures are on the way. All you can do is bundle up, the more layers the better.

What style concessions do you make during the winter months?

Hectic Hump Day

Dollar Store Sunnies, Blazer: Saver’s, Leaf Necklace: Dirt Chic, Gifted Scarf, Knit Top: Downtown Threads, Tank: Charlotte Russe, Jeans: Battery Street Jeans, Frye Boots

Dark wash skinnies, a crisp navy blazer, and classic Frye boots make for a simple, no fuss look for a hectic hump day.

What do you wear when you’re on the go all day?

Pink and Purple

Dollar Store Sunnies, Oversized Knit: Shalom Shuk, Dress: Banana Republic, Tights: The Sox Market, Mom’s Frye BootsIn terms of color palettes it doesn’t get much better for me than this look. I was surprised that my pale pink oversized knit, floral dress, purple tights and vintage Frye Boots created such an autumnal outfit (originally I was worried it would be too girly). The light pink of my thrifted cardigan kept the look light and I loved the rich eggplant color of the tights against my boots (a beloved hand me down from my mom).

what colors are you injecting into your fall wardrobe?

today I’m feeling country bumpkin, tomorrow who knows

Dollar Store Sunnies, Vintage Cardigan: Downtown Threads, Shirtdress: Gap, Frye Boots, Ring: stolen from my sister GiftedMy style is always changing so I love pieces that can adapt and so far this sweet plaid shirtdress isn’t having any trouble keeping up. It’s got a  little bit of a country bumpkin vibe going on with the boots and oversized vintage knit that feels perfect for fall.

That being said I just could have easily played up the preppy side of this dress with a school boy cardigan and oxfords or gone for a vampy school girl vibe with boots, a chic collar necklace, and a moto jacket. Bottom line this is one versatile piece and I plan on wearing it till the snow flies… and possibly beyond.

Does your style change from day to day or do you have a signature style that you stick with?

Raiders of the Lost Yard

Hat: Downtown Threads, Blazer & Chambray Button Up: Goodwill, Sweater: Bass, Leggings: Target, Bag: Gift from Lyndsey of Chicesque, Frye Boots, Speckled Ring: Kohl’s, Dollar Store SunniesAccording to D I look just like Indiana Jones in this outfit. We did watch Raiders of the Lost Arc the night before last, so there’s a chance I subconsciously channeled  Indy’s style as I got dressed. Regardless of the resemblance (or lack thereof) I took the comparison as a compliment; after all Indy had that sexy, slightly mused professor thing working for him. I guess I’ll have to get a whip to complete the look…

Speaking of whips… have you read Fifty Shade of Grey? It literally is the book everyone is talking about and I am totally sucked in. Yes, sometimes the err… erotic storyline makes me blush but I can’t put it down. I’m halfway through the second book and when I finish it, I know I’ll immediately get my hands on the third.  It’s addictive, dangerously addictive.

what books have you enthralled? what action hero’s style have you been channeling lately?

A Look for Casual Friday

Sunnies: Charlotte Russe, Top: TJ Maxx, Belt: Goodwill, Skirt: Forever 21, Bar Ring & Earrings: Downtown Threads, Gem Ring: Gifted, Frye Boots, Socks: UO, Tights: The Sox MarketMy office has a pretty relaxed dress code (aka dress up for client meetings and wear what you want the rest of the time) so everyday is sort of like casual Friday in my world, but I don’t let that stop me from taking part in this “9 -5” fashion tradition.

In my mind the classic casual Friday look has three distinct elements: denim, a classic but comfortable top, and well loved footwear. Instead of going the traditional route and wearing jeans I mixed it up  and went with my faux denim pencil skirt. The high waisted skirt  with the low slung belt and cropped sweater give this look an unexpected twist while keeping it casual and comfortable.

Does your workplace have a strict dress code? What’s your go to outfit for casual Friday’s?

Recovery Rodeo

Hat & Skull  Earrings: Downtown Threads, Sunglasses: Dollar Store, Scarf: Gifted, “Grandpa” Cardigan: The Get Up (sadly it’s now closed), Jeans: Hurley (via Plato’s Closet), Bag: Gifted via Lyndsey of Chicesque, Ring: Charlotte Russe, Frye Boots: Birthday gift from DWhen you wake up with friends on your couch, a half eaten burrito on your nightstand, and girl scout cookie pieces in your bed you know it was a good night out (and possibly a sign that your kitchen cabinets should be on a time lock).

Nothing soothes away memories of too many PBR pitchers like a brisk walk along the lake and an impossibly cozy vintage cardigan that someone’s grandmother obviously hand knit. Toss on your favorite jeans, a classic felt hat, the perfect pair of boots, dark sunglasses and some colorful accessories and you’re well on your way to feeling like a new again.

The PBR pitchers and late night food binge are both purely hypothetical examples…
