Growing up one of my mom’s friends always told me that I was “destine for greatness” and to get there I had to embrace my power color, purple. My grandiose destiny aside I was pleasantly surprised that the two purple pieces in my wardrobe worked together. Paired with my name necklace and camel blazer and booties it had a Clueless meets 16 Candles, girly, prep school vibe that seemed like the perfect way to brighten up a grey day.

What color/pieces in your wardrobe make you feel powerful and beautiful?

Pajama Stripes

I think I own about a dozen pairs of black tights. I wear them all winter long, sometimes two pairs at a time, they’re a staple. I wear them under shorts, skirts, rompers to stretch my spring and summer pieces into the cooler weather. One piece I’m trying to make work in the colder weather is this striped dress (last seen here.) It feels like wearing a silk nightshirt and is just the right mix of punk and polished.  Oh yeah and I’m also in love with my new ELLE booties. In fact I’m so smitten I’m thinking about wearing them two days in a row. So act surprised when you see them again.

What pieces are key to your winter wardrobe?

Boyish Charm

Dollar Store Sunnies, Scarf: Plato’s Closet, Jacket: Ann Taylor, Gingham Button up: Goodwill, Gifted Necklace, Jeans: Hurley, Vintage Shoe Company BootsFor me seasonal transitions are an opportunity to hit the reset button stylewise. Before tackling another season’s styles I like to go back to my casual basics; a military inspired jacket, classic brown boots, gingham, and denim. I stuck with slim silhouettes to round out the rougher, somewhat boyish elements and a big soft scarf and light floral fragrance added the perfect softness.

What style/pieces do you always go back to?

Hectic Hump Day

Dollar Store Sunnies, Blazer: Saver’s, Leaf Necklace: Dirt Chic, Gifted Scarf, Knit Top: Downtown Threads, Tank: Charlotte Russe, Jeans: Battery Street Jeans, Frye Boots

Dark wash skinnies, a crisp navy blazer, and classic Frye boots make for a simple, no fuss look for a hectic hump day.

What do you wear when you’re on the go all day?
