Stairwell Shirtdress

Dollar Store Sunglasses, Blazer: Saver’s, Shirt Dress: Gap, Tights: The Sox Market, Socks: ?, Frye Boots (hand-me-down from Mom), Amber RingI warned you you’d be seeing this shirtdress a lot and here it is again. I added tights, scrunched knee socks, and a blazer to keep it seasonally appropriate and the hand-me-down Frye Boots from my mom added the perfect personal touch.

What pieces from your wardrobe have you remixed lately?

Hectic Hump Day

Dollar Store Sunnies, Blazer: Saver’s, Leaf Necklace: Dirt Chic, Gifted Scarf, Knit Top: Downtown Threads, Tank: Charlotte Russe, Jeans: Battery Street Jeans, Frye Boots

Dark wash skinnies, a crisp navy blazer, and classic Frye boots make for a simple, no fuss look for a hectic hump day.

What do you wear when you’re on the go all day?

Rusty Redhead

Knit Hat: Downtown Threads, Gifted Scarf, Silence + Noise Blazer: UO, Denim Shirt: Walmart, Pants: Gap, Bamboo Ankle Boots

I wasn’t a huge fan of this outfit (a look clearly better in theory than practice) but I loved the photo above. It’s not particularly flattering or in focus but it finally helped me figure out what color hair I have.

Obviously I’m a redhead, but my hair isn’t really red and it definitely isn’t orange. While I know this is a completely frivolous issue it comes up more often than you’d think. My driver’s ed teacher listed my hair as “orange” on my permit  and I can clearly remember when the woman processing my visa at the Italian Consulate  had to call a supervisor over to ask what color my hair should be listed as on my paperwork.

So just to set the record straight and for my own peace of mind my hair is rust colored. And if rust wont suffice I can always go back be being a red… or orange head.

What color do you consider your hair?

Leaf Peeping in VT

Sunglasses: Zinnia, Scarf: Gift Shop, Jacket: Ann Taylor, Bag: Forever 21,  Flannel: Levi’s (via Goodwill), Leggings: Target, Wellies: Dick’sAfter almost a week straight of rainy days it felt wrong not to get outside and take advantage of an only partly cloudy day so our friend Tim, his dog Boss, D and I drove to Richmond, Vermont and spent the afternoon tromping through the woods along the Winooski River in search of fall foliage.

In the end the best foliage was mostly off in the distance but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our wooded surroundings. I’d forgotten how much I loved the smell of fall and how it clings to your clothes and lingers for a while. It reminded me of the way my clothes would smell after jumping into the piles of leaves my dad would rake when we were kids.

What are your favorite fall activities/memories?

Brick and Blue

Sunnies: Charlotte Russe, Belt: Goodwill, Knit: Gap (via The Clothes Exchange), Blouse & Ring: Downtown Threads, Jeans: Gap, Seychelles ClogsI bet you didn’t expect to see this blouse again so soon, but I couldn’t resist. It’s the perfect layering piece and the blush color was perfect with the blue of the skinnies. I’m a big believer in the idea that when you find a perfect fitting garment you should buy it in as many colors, washes, prints etc… as possible. Which is why I own these skinnies from Gap in blue and black. It’s also why I am desperately hunting down another blouse like this one.
