Luckily it pairs perfectly with 70’s shag and emerald green, over the knee suede boots. A wonderful acquisition indeed. Did I mention it was $4.99?

What skill or talent have you always wanted to have?

Picnic Perfect!

Hat: Charlotte Russe, Rose Necklace: Forever 21, Dress: Battery St Jeans, Ring: My Little Cupcake, Bag: Gifted, Sandals: PaylessWe’re off on a weekend camping and boating adventure, so while I’m off getting in touch with nature here are a few pictures from one of the many concerts we enjoyed at Battery Park this summer. Here’s hoping that your weekend is filled with sunshine, garden picked sweet peas, and watermelon eating pups named Oliver.

Good luck to all of the tri-athletes competing in Burlington this weekend!

What to Wear to the Polls with Corey of Call Me Brazen Vintage

While I’m hiding under a massive sun hat soaking up the sun on the beach the lovely Corey of Call Me Brazen Vintage graciously agreed to guest post and I love that she got political!

It’s no secret that it’s an election year. Everywhere you turn political ads and debates have begun to saturate the airwaves. Lately, I’ve been attending a lot of municipal meetings (which are filmed) and writing about them for a local paper. All of these factors combined really have me thinking about what to wear to these events and furthermore, what to wear to the polls in November. I know you’re thinking, “um..that’s still four months away.”. True, but you think Jackie O. waited till the last minute to figure out what she was going to wear? You shouldn’t either.

Let’s face it: the power suit is dead, which helps make room for much better and more flattering alternatives that don’t involve shoulder pads.

As you stride into the voting booth, you’ll be armed not only with confidence in your candidate choices, but also in your striking ensemble.  Now it’s time to toss that stylish trench over your arm and traverse to your favorite local spot to await the results with your friends and vino.

When Animal Prints Collide

Scarf & Jeans: Battery Street Jeans, Sunglasses: Downtown Threads, Blouse: LL Bean, Belt: Goodwill, Heels: Target, Camel Watch: Flea Market, Jag Ring: GILTIt doesn’t get much more classic than jeans and a white tee. To add a bit of personality to this understated look I opted for snakeskin heels and a leopard print scarf worn in faux turban fashion. Since both of the animal print accessories were on the subtle side (as subtle as animal prints can be) I wasn’t worried about mixing them, especially when they were going to be worn so far apart from each other.

I couldn’t believe my luck when I tried these jeans on at Battery Street Jeans, not only did they fit me but the length is perfect for everything from flats to heels and they were only $10! Don’t you love when that happens?!

What prints have you been mixing into your spring wardrobe? Have you had any major thrift/consignment store finds recently?

Big Hair; Big Romance

Happy Valentine’s Day All!

I chuckled to myself a few weeks ago when Steffy left me a comment asking if my hair was naturally wavy… girl you have no idea. Thank goodness I have such cute hats! Speaking of cute hats this is one of my favorites. I spent months lusting after pricey ones and then on a whim I stopped into Dirt Chic, a local consignment shop, and there on one of the rounders was this hat. I know I could have saved myself a lot of time and longing if I’d just bought a similarly styled hat but I doubt I would love it as much as I love this hat.

What pieces have you spent months searching for? How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?

Italian Cowboy

Bangles: Gifted & Thrifted, Boots: Florence, Italy

Ever have one of those days when you wake up and feel totally uninspired by what your closet has to offer? Well this is outfit is a direct product of that type of feeling and if I didn’t have to be at work by 9am I would probably still be standing in my closet with a blank look on my face. If I don’t plan, or at least think about my outfit the night before it’s a total crap shoot. Sometimes I end up throwing together great combinations but other times… well it just isn’t pretty.

When nothing in my closet jumps out at me I opt for comfortable, casual clothes. For me it doesn’t get much more comfortable than this red skirt from Downtown Threads (seen here & here). It just fits and flatters in all the right ways and works with so many other things in my closet (even though it’s the only red article of clothing I own).  I don’t know why but for some reason I always wear this skirt with blue tops. Maybe it’s the patriot in me of the fact that I have no idea how to style red on a redhead but for some reason I always end up looking like the fourth of July.

What do you wear when you’re feeling uninspired by your wardrobe? Do you plan your outfits out or do you just wake up and go?
