After close to twenty years of struggling my hair and I have come to a mutual understanding. I give it plenty of Moroccan Oil, only wash it twice a week, and keep the heat to a minimum; in return I’m left with more curl than frizz and relatively little poof. Deviation from this careful formula, say falling asleep with your wet hair in a messy bun, can (and in this case did) result in an 80’s-licious poof. Instead of fighting with my unruly hair I just kept my outfit simple and gave my hair plenty of room to err grow.

how do you cope with busy Mondays and bad hair days?

Pajama Stripes

I think I own about a dozen pairs of black tights. I wear them all winter long, sometimes two pairs at a time, they’re a staple. I wear them under shorts, skirts, rompers to stretch my spring and summer pieces into the cooler weather. One piece I’m trying to make work in the colder weather is this striped dress (last seen here.) It feels like wearing a silk nightshirt and is just the right mix of punk and polished.  Oh yeah and I’m also in love with my new ELLE booties. In fact I’m so smitten I’m thinking about wearing them two days in a row. So act surprised when you see them again.

What pieces are key to your winter wardrobe?

Simple, Grungy, and Glam

Dollar Store Sunnies, Hat & Vintage Skirt: Downtown Threads Gifted Faux Fur Snood, Guess Moto Jacket: Wilsons Leather Mockneck: Boutique in GA, Tights: Target, Velvet Boots: Old Navy Ring: Michaels

When in doubt wear black (at least that’s what I always say).  I knew I was in for a wildly busy day so I choose comfortable pieces, stuck to a simple color palette (black and white) and added personality with updated basics like a fuax fur snood and velvet combat boots.

How do you stay comfortable and stylish on busy days?

Big Girl Heels.

Knit Hat: UO, Jacket: Wilson’s Leather, Sweater: Zara, Jeans: Gap, Skull Ring: Vending Machine, Heels: ALDO

Yet another modified version of jeans and a tee, my go to outfit. Since this is such a simple look I added texture with the knit hat and leather jacket and a pop of color with my wild print ALDO heels. I was on the fence about buying these heels (the print reminded me of an early 90’s track suit a neighbor used to have) until two little girls shopping with their mom told me they liked my “big girl shoes” and just like that I was sold.

What helps you decide when you’re on the fence about a purchase?

October Outfits and New Coat November

20 outfit posts later October is over & the holidays are around the corner! While October was full of fall fashion excitement most of the leaves have fallen off the trees and the temperature is steadily dropping. November is here which means it’s time to get serious about bundling up. Enter my insane impressive collection of coats. I’ve been meaning to catalog my coat/outerwear collection for sometime now and November 1st seems like the perfect time to start.

Starting today I’ll be wearing and sharing a different coat each day for the whole month of November (yes I really have that many coats… possibly more). Not only do I think this exercise will help me get a handle on the size and scope of my collection but I’m hoping it will kick start a major closet purge.

So without further ado here is coat #1 (a current favorite) black, Guess moto jacket from Wilson’s Leather (last seen here)
