I’m lucky in that I’m able to walk to work, however that means most days (especially during the winter) I’m carrying a change of shoes in my bag. As much as I’m a slave to fashion I’m even more of a realist and platforms just aren’t practical, especially in Burlington. Besides I love these heels way too much to subject them to the salt, muck, and grey snow matter that’s currently covering the sidewalks. I leave that to my trusty Old Navy boots, the more wear and tear they endure the better they look.

Does your commute affect your wardrobe? Are you fashion focused or rooted in reality?

Back in Beige

Gifted Faux Fur Snood, Talbot’s Blouse: Goodwill, Belt: Target Tweed Shorts: Old Navy, Calvin Klein Tights: TJ Maxx, Michael Antonio Heels, Ring: GiltThese tweed shorts were in a forgotten newly discovered box of winter clothes I found while digging out the holiday decorations. Rediscovering these pieces reinvigorated my cold weather style and created dozens of outfit ideas, including this one. There is something about wearing lace and tweed together that just works. It’s a bit prim and proper but the faux fur and Michael Antonio platforms round it out nicely.

What’s been working for you lately?

the Jumpsuit and a Gold Sequin Jacket

Dollar Store Sunnies, Sequin Jacket: Calvin Klein, Belt: Possibility Shop, Vintage Jumpsuit: Downtown Threads, Michael Antonio HeelsThis is the same exact look as yesterday, I just swapped out the blazer for a little bling and added a pop of color with a classic red belt. If I ever had the chance to go back in time and attend one of Warhol’s factory parties I would wear something very similar.

what party/event do you wish you could (or could have) attend? what would you wear?

the Jumpsuit and a Green Jacket

Dollar Store Sunglasses, Blazer: Talbots (via Goodwill), Vintage Jumpsuit: Downtown Threads, Belt: Target, Micheal Antonio HeelsA jumpsuit isn’t exactly a practical piece for me to have in my wardrobe but I just couldn’t say no to when I saw it at Downtown Threads. It’s not sexy in a “conventional” way, in fact if you’re not careful you could end up with wicked camel toe making yourself look short/stumpy, but I think there is something to be said for the confidence they inspire. My inner studio 54 disco diva came out when I put this piece on and I felt incredible.

Am I ready to wear this to the office? No. But who knows, a couple more spins around the block in this one piece and you just may see me doing my best Travolta impression in the produce section at the co-op.

What unconventional pieces are hanging in your closet?

You’ve seen it all before

Blazer: Vintage via my mom, Button up: J Crew Mens (via Plato’s Closet), Jeans: Levi’s, Heels: Michael Antonio (via Endless), Rings: GiftedYou’ve seen these heels a lot (here, here & here). They’re one of my favorite pairs of shoes and go with almost everything. I paired them with the boyfriend jeans that you’ve seen many time before (here & here) to give this casual look a more polished feel.

This camel blazer is one of my favorite hand me downs from my mom, (seen here & here) I love that I’m wearing it during the same time in my life (post college, pre kids) as she was. I wish she’d kept more photos from when she was in her 20s, I have a feeling she was rocking some fierce fashions.

The only item in this look that’s unblogged is the JCrew men’s button up that I scored at Plato’s Closet for under $5 about a million years ago. It’s long enough to wear it over leggings and has the perfect amount of pink striping. I’m not sure what prompted me to tuck in just the front but I’m kinda liking the whole mullet look.

What pieces do you find yourself wearing over and over again?

Tea Party with Champ

This is Champ, the most famous lake monster in the US. Champ lives in Lake Champlain, is rumored to be a plesiosaur and likes extra marshmallows in his hot cocoa. Ok so I made that last part up but who turns down extra marshmallows?

Sunnies: Zinnia, Tunic (worn as tank): Battery Street Jeans,

Skirt & Belt: Downtown Threads, Heels: Michael Antonio (via Endless)

With the exception of the pink tunic I’m wearing as a top you’ve seen all these pieces before. My love for these Michael Antonio heels is well documented here and here, I wore this new western belt last week and you’ve seen this skirt twirl before. I’ve been having a lot of fun shopping my closet lately (this makes both D and my wallet happy). I really love how the gold pattern on the heels work with the chunky gold accents on the belt.

What items have you been rewearing? Have you seen Champ?
