D and I took advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend with a nice long walk along the Burlington Bike Path. The bike path is one of my favorite spots in Burlington, there isn’t a bad view to be had and it winds along some of the most beautiful parks in Burlington.

This look is the perfect mix of the winter staples that have seen me through the cold and the spring pieces I’m itching to wear. A newly acquired vintage sweater, almost long enough to be a dress, I mean a Kardashian would wear it as a dress, was the perfect base for a floral trapeze dress and my faux fur snood. Mom’s old Frye boots and a big ole floppy hat (perfect for showcasing old brooches) brought everything together.

What signs of spring and/or spring fashion are you most excited for?

On the Fringe

Felt Hat & Jeans: Charlotte Russe, Sunnies: Downtown Threads, Poncho: Target, Knit Cardigan: Shalom Shuk, Cowboy Boots: Italy

A bit over the top (wish I hadn’t worn the sunnies) but hindsight is always 20/20, right? I think my affinity for ponchos and caplets comes from my love of being wrapped up in blankets on a chilly day. Since I can’t get away with wearing throw blankets out in public (though some have tried) this hooded poncho over my peachy knit was the next best thing.

How have you been fending off the first hints of winter’s chill?

if Boy George had a red headed half sister…

…I suspect she’d look a bit like me in this hat

Dollar Store Sunnies, Hat & Blazer: Shalom Shuk, Denim Shirt: Walmart, Knit: TJ Maxx, Jeans: GAP, Bronx Boots: Stella Mae, Ring: MontrealThe graphic floral print J.Crew jacket and vintage felt hat, with the original owner’s name sewn into the lining, are both from a recent trip to Shalom Shuk and I snagged these new (oxblood, maroon, insert your preferred name for this shade of dark red) leather Bronx Boots on sale at Stella Mae.

What exciting wardrobe additions have you been making? *bonus points if they make you look oddly like an 80s celebrity… and you send me a picture*

Aerating the Lawn in Heels

Hat: Dirt Chic, Sunglasses: Charlotte Russe, Blouse: Talbots (via Goodwill), Jeans: Hurley (via Plato’s Closet), Jeffrey Campbell Boots: Footnotes, Sweater: Battery Street Jeans, Watch: Gifted, Bracelet: Charlotte Russe, Bar Ring: Downtown ThreadsFor a casual Saturday afternoon lunch with D’s parents this outfit was perfect; for measuring our little backyard and planning out landscaping projects, not so much. At least an inch of my 5″ heels were sunk into our little lawn (see above photo) at all times creating a hilarious scene that D had no trouble enjoying.

In my defense the post lunch greescaping was completely impromptu (had I known I would have worn more practical shoes) but since I’ve never been one to let platform heels interfere with spontaneity I just went with it. In hindsight my choice of footwear may have actually been beneficial to our lawn as my heels were acting as the perfect aerating tool.

Who knows, maybe I’m on to the next big thing?! I can see it now, Charlie Sheen hiring models to strut up and down his lawn in stilettos and lingerie all in the name of lawn aeration. Weirder things have happened…

I know they’re not the right shoes…

but I got excited and had to wear them…Hat: Dirt Chic, Cardigan: Downtown Threads, Gingham Top: Goodwill, Belt: Quarter Life Vintage, Boots: Dear Lucy, Jeans: Hurley (via Plato’s), Jade Bracelet: Gifted, Glass Ring: Northern Lights, Bag: Urban OutfittersSpring, the season where you wake up with snow and it’s 55 and muddy by lunch.  With the varying temperatures in mind I wanted layers that were easy, casual, and worked with my new boots and bag. Dear Lucy was/is/has been having amazing sales on their winter styles and I finally bought the Matt Bernson boots I’ve been ogling for months… just in time for a record breaking spring heatwave.

At least I got to wear them once and luckily I can use my UO bucket bag all summer long, so all is not lost. I’m going to pack my beloved boots away this weekend with the most of my winter wear but I know next fall when I’ve forgotten all about them I unpack them I’ll be just as excited.

What beloved winter pieces have you/are you packing away?

Big Hair; Big Romance

Happy Valentine’s Day All!

I chuckled to myself a few weeks ago when Steffy left me a comment asking if my hair was naturally wavy… girl you have no idea. Thank goodness I have such cute hats! Speaking of cute hats this is one of my favorites. I spent months lusting after pricey ones and then on a whim I stopped into Dirt Chic, a local consignment shop, and there on one of the rounders was this hat. I know I could have saved myself a lot of time and longing if I’d just bought a similarly styled hat but I doubt I would love it as much as I love this hat.

What pieces have you spent months searching for? How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?
