Dollar Store Sunnies, Moto Jacket (similar): Charlotte Russe, Top: Georgia, Jeans: H&M, Misc Bangles, Mermaid Bracelet: Alex & Ani, Gifted Mustache Ring
I went to Charlotte Russe looking for a bandeau/bralet top and left with two jackets (this being one of them), NOT good. I will freely admit to owning too many coats but the pull of the sale rack was too strong. I couldn’t resist the mix of exposed zippers, gold hardware, and creamy twill, the perfect mix of tacky grandma and biker chic. Besides I thought leaving with only two coats was a testament to my willpower; I’m still thinking of the cropped cobalt blue leather jacket and powder pink silk blazer I left behind.

When in doubt wear black (at least that’s what I always say). I knew I was in for a wildly busy day so I choose comfortable pieces, stuck to a simple color palette (black and white) and added personality with updated basics like a fuax fur snood and velvet combat boots.
How do you stay comfortable and stylish on busy days?
Sunnies: Downtown Threads, Blouse: H&M (via The Clothes Exchange), Cropped Lace Pants: Urban Outfitters, Bracelet: Forever 21, Heels: ALDOWe’ve all had those mornings when getting dressed feels like an insurmountable obstacle. Nothing fits, everything you own suddenly looks odd, and soon your whole morning is derailed.
On days when this happens to me I remind myself how irrational the whole situation is (how could a closet full of clothes stop fitting overnight) and get back to basics; and what’s more basic than black and white? Throw in coral suede platforms from ALDO for towering height and a summer dose of color and you’ve got a classic, no fuss look to carry you through whatever your day throws at you.
What are your wardrobe basics?
Sunglasses: Dollar Store, Belt worn as Ribbon: taken from H&M tunic, Tank: Charlotte Russe, Skirt: TJ Maxx, Ring: Michael’s, Sandals: Payless Bracelet: GiftedI can’t believe I’m saying this but Burlington is in the middle of a record breaking heatwave… in MARCH. While the New Englander in me is weary of what a record high spring temperatures mean for seasons to come I’ve been taking full advantage of the weather. I pulled my warm weather boxes out of
the crawl space storage and this pleated black and white maxi skirt was begging to be worn. It’s simple but loud, which is exactly what I was going for.
Recently I’ve started using scarves and in this case belts to tie up my hair instead of elastics in an attempt to offset the awkward growing out stage my hair is in. I’ve been growing my hair out since I had a quarter life crisis on my 21st birthday (while living in Italy) and on a whim decided to get a bob. It looked amazing when the stylist did it but in real life it was a maintenance nightmare.*
How often do you change up your hairstyle? What pieces in your closet require the maintenance?
*Speaking of maintenance nightmares… a day of running around at the office left my pleats looking rather wilted. So if anyone out there has a trick to keeping dry clean only pieces with pleats fresh in between trips to the cleaners I would be forever grateful!
