Coral and Lace in the Face of Fashion Odds

Sunnies: Downtown Threads, Blouse: H&M (via The Clothes Exchange), Cropped Lace Pants: Urban Outfitters, Bracelet: Forever 21, Heels: ALDOWe’ve all had those mornings when getting dressed feels like an insurmountable obstacle. Nothing fits, everything you own suddenly looks odd, and soon your whole morning is derailed.

On days when this happens to me I remind myself how irrational the whole situation is (how could a closet full of clothes stop fitting overnight) and get back to basics; and what’s more basic than black and white? Throw in coral suede platforms from ALDO for towering height and a summer dose of color and you’ve got a classic, no fuss look to carry you through whatever your day throws at you.

What are your wardrobe basics?

  1. This is the perfect solution to the “I have nothing to wear” days. The black and white are a classic combo. You look super chic today Cait!

  2. There is nothing better than the black and white combo to make you feel pulled together! My “nothing to wear” days consist of either a comfy dress, skirt and top combo or a blazer. Heather

    • Heather one of the best parts of summer (in my mind) is the ability to throw on a dress and run out the door looking polished and put together.

  3. Love the black & white – and the coral shoes are perfect!

    • Thank you for your comment Annie! Black and white is one of my favorite color combinations. It’s so crisp and clean and it makes the perfect blank slate for bold accessories… like coral platforms.

  4. I always grab a black pencil skirt to get me back to basics. Loving the lace pants. Awesome!

    • You are so right about black pencil skirts Carla, they are one of the basic building blocks for any great wardrobe and they go with everything!

  5. Are you in my closet?! This outfit is like one of my wardrobe staples! Looking awesome!

  6. You can never go wrong with black and white. Love how you’ve styled it here. The sunnies and pink pumps give it a retro vibe.
